10 Ideas for Celebrating Valentines Day Virtually
Valentines Day is coming up and we are still in a paradigm. The struggles of a distant relationship can be quite challenging but to improvise new and creative ways to maintain it can add a spark. To honor your loved one on this day but not just this day cause we like to show love daily, you can celebrate love day with your boo or even to a family member or a friend. because there are different types of love other than romantic love like platonic (maybe for galentines day), familial and self love, but I have some ideas for you.
For my food lovers, which that may be most of you; research food places in their area which could be some of their favorite go to spots or a even a cake shop that bakes goodies and have those delivered to their home. Another thing is planning a meal and making dinner together while on facetime, make it fun and turn it into a cookoff.
Create a gift box or a care package to send to them of their favorite things whether it could be a favorite snack, including gift cards, comfortable clothing items, photos of each other that could be framed, or whatever it is that you believe they will like and remind them of you.
To keep it simple and basic, watch a romantic comedy movie on Netflix. Personally, I am a huge fan of romantic comedies. Setting time aside for a movie night can ensure that time spent.
Creating a playlist of songs that you can send to them, titled "these songs remind me of you", I'll even encourage you to take it all the way back and making a CD or an mp3 player to mail. Now that's an old school way instead of the regular 'smegular' sending it via text.
Plan their day for them by scheduling an appointment of pampering and self care. Or send money via cash app "for: a haircut" or "for: a pedicure on me"; It's ways that you can show up in your relationships, it's on you to figure out how.
Writing a letter expressing how you feel about them. This way you're finding a different channel of communication, plus it's the thought that counts of setting time aside to write a letter to them.
Talk with total transparency and with no distractions of what you've learned about one another, what you want to work towards, and revisit what may have changed. Make it interesting by hosting a game of 21 Questions.
Create a video of photos and vids into one and send it with your favorite song or that one song that you called "ours" playing in the background.
Engage in an activity, like a virtual sip and paint. Go to the dollar store for your supplies and come up with a sketch together.
In ways to honor physical touch, sleep in their piece of clothing like a t-shirt or mail a blanket that you may have to serve as a reminder.
I am always encouraging self love and this can still be applied. In ways to celebrate YOU, use your love language on yourself. Take yourself out on a date or write a letter to yourself, buy something nice that you have been putting off. Always, always, always choose you.
For more guidance, take the love language quiz or retake it in case it may have changed. Here are the love languages:
Words of Affirmation - Saying supportive things to your partner
Acts of Service - Doing helpful things for your partner
Receiving Gifts - Giving your partner gifts that tell them you were thinking about them
Quality Time - Spending meaningful time with your partner
Physical Touch - Being close to and caressed by your partner
